B's 1st Trip to the Dentist

I didn't know if it would be better to talk to Brooklyn ahead of time about our upcoming trip to the dentist or just to go and see what would happen.  I decided to go ahead and talk it up...wrong choice.  The morning of our appointment, she said to take Chandler and she would just stay home with the babysitter and I couldn't talk her out of it.  UNTIL.............
I remembered the rain boots.  Ava and Macy outgrew these rainboots and gave them to Brooklyn a couple of months ago and she has been DYING to wear them, but it's been a million degrees and we've had no rain.  Well, the day of her appointment, it was raining and this was the perfect solution to getting her motivated to go.  Thanks, Brooke!!
They had a huge fish tank in the middle of the waiting room that she LOVED and she made a new friend so we were off to a good start.
When they called us back, I thought they would lay her down in my lap, but know, they wanted her in the BIG CHAIR!

No problemo for Little Miss Independent!  When they laid the chair back and raised it up, she was a little startled, but just laid back like a big girl.  They counted, cleaned and flossed her teeth and she was a little nervous about that.  I only know that though because she reached over and held my hand and she NEVER does that!!  SOOOO SWEEEET!!  When they brought the "polisher" (you know, they thing that sounds like a drill and has that paste on it?) out, though, she said 2 of my favorite Brooklyn phrases and crawled into my lap:
"I'm all done dis." (I'm all done with this.)
"I can't want it." (She means "I don't want it," but I think it's hilarious that she says "can't"...like, really Brooklyn?  You CAN'T want it even if you tried?)

Then the dentist came out to have a look and they think B has her first cavity. =(
They are going to check it again in 6 months to see if any action needs to be taken.

Overall, I was really impressed with her behavior!  Good job, B!!
(And I'm all about any excuse to get her to hold my hand and cuddle!! I LOVE taking her to the dentist!)

1-Year-Old!

12-Months-Old!!
12-Month Stats

Ht:  30 1/2 inches...90th %
Wt:  21 inches...50th%
HC:  17 3/4 inches...50th%

She's tall!
Still has crazy blue eyes, light brown hair, and there are very mixed opinions about who she looks like...none of which are Eddie or me.  =)  Who do you think she looks like?

Her temperment is very laid back and very easy going...much like her Daddy.
She is such a joy to be around!!
Chandler's words at 1-year:
ma-ma
da-da
no, no, no (with vigorous head movement in case the words aren't clear=))
book
bite
bye-bye
more (and signs it)
mote (for television remote control)
uh-oh
all (for "all done" when eating and signs it)
night-night
hi
She also signs for "Thank you"
I'm sure there are a couple more, but I haven't been great about writing them down.  =(
At exactly 1 year she had 4 teeth, but now, just 2 weeks later she already has 7 with 3 more very close to popping through
She was still squeezing into a size 3 daiper, but now is in 4's
Can show you her belly, head and hands when asked
Favorite Foods:  Grapes and Goldfish
Every morning, Chandler brings me the little throw pillows to help me make my bed.  Such a helper!!
So smart (and strong)!!
She loves to roll around on big pillows and blankets
She gives kisses on command
She LOVES her baby
Kisses it, gives it a bottle, holds it and pats it's back, and mimmicks the sounds it makes
She closes all cabinet doors and drawers that she passes
She works puzzles...

She helps to clean-up toys
takes very short naps
and, in my opinion, acts too old for her age
Most of which I know is just copy-catting her big sister...

Happy 1st Birthday to sweet Chandler Alexis!

Brooklynism's

Brooklyn is saying so many cute and funny things right now that I'm going to try to remember to record them here.  I know there are more, but these are my favorites right now:

peanut butter sandwich = pinky butter sammich
battery = bah-no-nee
fix it = braxe it (with a long "a" sound...like breaks)

So...when something is "so broken," we need a bah-no-nee to braxe it (probably sounds a little confusing to the outsider...took me a minute to figure out her lingo).  And NO MATTER who fixes "it," the credit always goes to Daddy.

Also, we are at the stage of very innocently saying inappropriate things.  Today at Chickfila:
1.  Opened door to play area to loudly point out to me the boys in their that were making "bad, bad choices and needed a spankin'"...fabulous
2.  Pointed a little girls face (whose mother was sitting about 2 feet away) and said, "Mommy, her face is so messy."
3.  Another little girl hurt her knee (and by hurt I mean slightly bumped her knee on something) and went crying to her mom.  Her mom kissed it and convinced her she was okay only to have B go point to her knee and say, "Mommy, knee is so ouchy."  The little girl started crying again and went back to her mom.  Sorry!!

And notice that EVERYTHING is "so"...so ouchy, so messy, so broken...I LOVE it!

Here is a little sample of her talking and I wrote down the parts I could understand.
diamond, lamb, swing-swing (for the broom...means sweep, sweep), star, sock-in, truck-in (sometimes we randomly add in to our words), turtle, tiger, pumpkin, sticky-sticky (picture of a volcano), umbrella, bicycle (pronounced bi-sa-cycle), so funny, hand, color-color, boat...the end

Eddie's 35th Birthday

August 20, 2011
In my opinion, this is the BEST possible way to start a day!  The girls are so happy to see each other in the morning and they are just both so fresh and happy (although B still looks a little tired in this picture...)

After some good quality time with his girls, Eddie left "Hollywood" to go play some golf.
Next up?  Birthday party with his little family...
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Eddie
Happy Birthday to You!
And Many More...

And Chandler was there, too...

Just at my feet, of course!

And then for the grand finale...
I acted like I was just throwing together a spontaneous date night for the 2 of us for his birthday...
Surprise!
Weeks before I had invited his best guy friends and their significant others to join us that evening at Del Frisco's.  It was restaurant week in Dallas so they were running a really neat special.
That's the look on his face when he first walked in!
(Thanks Brooke for capturing that moment for us!)
I was so proud of all of his friends.  No one leaked a word and they were all their on time and seated at the table when we walked in.  Such a fun and special night!!
He had a blast!!  (although I think it might have been even more fun for me!!)
Thank you to everyone for making it so special.
Happy Birthday, Eddie!!

Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh Lolli-Lollipop

Chandler's 1st Birthday Party

Welcome to Chandler's Sweet Shoppe!
Cake balls on sticks = cake pops!

Her monthly photos from birth until now...

Thank you Mom and Ashley for all your help with the decor!!  Ya'll did SUCH a great job!!
Now time to party!!  Let's go get the little party people!!
(Thanks Ms. Margaret, Dad and Landry for keeping them while we got things set up!!)

My brother, Brady, and his new "special friend," Valerie prepared some fabulous appetizers!

I don't know if you can see in the picture, but several of those appetizers are on little toothpicks so they kind-of carry on the theme of the lollipop party.  I didn't even mention that to them or ask them to do it.
Then, to top THAT off, they did THIS:

I mean, seriously????
How cute are they?!?
While they were preparing appetizers,
Mom was inside playing games and organizing crafts for the little party people.
A little game of "Find the Jelly Bean" which was hidden under 1 of the 3 cups
Coloring sheets
(with lollipops on them of course!)
Love how these crafts became part of the decor!  Great idea, Mom!!
So if Brady and Valerie were doing appetizers and Mom is in charge of activities for little one,
you might be wondering what I was doing?
Right.  Chandler is a bit of a "Mommy's Girl" these days!
And I couldn't deny the girl what she most desired at her own birthday party!!  =)
And their were a few guests that actually got to sit back and ENJOY the party
Well...at least for a little while
Presents

Dinnertime!
Then time for her BIG moment in the spotlight!
It's my party and I can cry if I want to!
I've been sitting in this chair for over an HOUR and this hat on my head is not making it any better!!
I want DOWN!

What is this sticky thing?  Is it supposed to help???
Oh, you eat it?
Now I get it!!  Don't you dare get me down!!
Seriously, this is too good everyone...you have to try some!

Community Cake, Cannon
Eat Some...
I said, "EAT SOME!"
The aftermath...

6 Kids + 1 Cake =
Pretty Impressive, huh?
Great way to finish a fabulous party!!

Of course, I do have a to give a shout out to my fabulous photographers!!
They didn't get to be IN many of the pictures because they were working hard BEHIND the camera the entire time!!

Thank you so much to my sister-in-law (Ashely) and mother-in-law (Ms. Margaret) for doing such an awesome job of capturing the essence of the birthday party and getting the pictures to me so quickly.  Ya'll are the best!

But most especially, thank you to sweet Chandler Alexis for being such a FABULOUS birthday girl!

Happy 1st Birthday, Chandler!!

p.s.  Thank you Mom for making the adorable lollipop sugar cookies, helping with the cake balls, making fruit kabobs, making cupcakes, organizing games and crafts, helping to get supplies and doing all the decorating with Ashley.  And thank you Ashley for your good eye for helping to arrange everything!  Are you catching on here?  Beware of any parties I EVER invite you, too, because you just might end up with a job!!  I'm not a very good decorator, photographer or cook, but I sure know how to delegate to the people who are!! =)
