Happy Birthday, Baby B!!

Brooklyn is officially 2 today and so this blog is ALL ABOUT HER on her special day!

( I took this yesterday on our way to VBS...turned around and asked her to say cheese...Perfect Child!!)

Her Favortie things:
  • Her "cacky" (blanket)
  • Going "Night-Night"...just say the words and she is running back to her crib and trying to climb in OR if she is ready before you are, she'll grab your hand and take you back there and let you know it's time

  • Watching "TB" (television-I have about 100 pictures of her in this exact position in front of the TV in the playroom)

  • Swinging

  • Her Daddy!

  • "Melmo" (Elmo)
  • "Cookie"-meaning Cookie Monster and always said with a growl in her voice
  • Stars - whenever she sees one she automatically starts singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" with hand motions
  • Mickey Mouse or of any of his friends - will start singing the Hot Dog song when she spots any of them
  • Bows - if she sees one (or 3) sitting out, she'll bring it (or them) to you and lean her head towards you to put it in

  • Jumping
  • Climbing

  • Throwing trash away
  • Going for walks and pushing her baby in the baby doll stroller

Favorite Foods:
  • Chicken Nuggets
  • Kraft Mac and Cheese
  • Spaghettios

  • Crackers

My Favorite things about her!
  • She loves to give out BIG HUGS and kisses on command to anyone at anytime!

  • How excited she gets about naps and bedtime...makes her grin from ear to ear
  • What a great shopping buddy she is! (With snack, of course)
  • Her manners...she is really good about saying please and thank you
  • Her elephant and monkey imitations
  • Her crazy hair when she first wakes up and gets out of bed

Strange things about B:
  • She likes to lick muddy rocks and say "nummy-nummy-nummy" (nummy=yummy)
  • She has changed the words to the "clean up" song to "clean up all the doo-doo"???  I promise that is not what I taught her!
  • She likes to fake sneeze
  • Anytime she sees anything that resembles a tissue, she will bring it to you and want you to wipe her nose
  • She's recently started adding "Le" to the front of words...ex:  Le-poopy (when she has a dirty D), Le-cacky (her blanket), Le-bye bye (when she's ready to leave)
  • She's only recently started to talk, so her best form of communication has been to grab your finger and pull you where she wants to go and point to what she wants you to do...turn on the tv, eat, go outside, etc.  It's been a very effective method of communicating, but we are thankful she is starting to use some words as well!

B's Progress in Life So Far:
  • She can sing her abc's from beginning to end...it's not perfect, but she definitely has the tune down and hits many of the key letters
  • She's NEVER ONCE tinkled on the potty (although she will tell you nearly everytime she goes in her diaper)
  • She can count to 6 and tell you how old she is
  • She hasn't yet mastered the art of using a fork or spoon

Thank you so much, God, for entrusting this precious child to us!  We feel so fortunate to have her in our lives and every moment that we get to spend with her is such a treasured gift!  She makes us laugh, she teaches us patience, and she makes us appreciate the simple things in life.  Please help us to raise her in your image and we pray that she becomes a woman after your own heart.  Ultimately, our goal is to lead her to You so please help us to set a good example.  Once again, thank you for creating the perfect child for our little family.  Amen!!

We love you, Baby B!!  Happy 2nd Birthday!!

  1. Okay, I was going to keep it short and not be psycho commenter, but what a PRECIOUS post!

First off, that prayer should be in some Christian parenting book. It was wonderful. EXACTLY what a parent should pray for about their child.

And I was totally cracking up about the Le! Hello, French Brookly!

And I am in shock about the ABC's and counting to 6. Miller can't even begin to do any of those things. I am so embarassed!

    Happy Birthday, Brooklyn!!!

  2. Thanks, Leslie! Miller can do alot of things that Brooklyn can't do and I'm constantly impressed with his vocabulary!! You'll be amazed at how much more he'll do in the next couple of months. Brooklyn just started really talking about 2 weeks ago and it was so out of the blue. It's like they are taking it all in this whole time and then are suddenly ready! We miss Miller and miss our lunch dates!
