My friend ended up with some extra tickets to the Wizard of Oz and invited Brooklyn and I to go. Those of you who know Brooklyn, know that she has a LOT of energy and is not always extremely cooperative so I wasn't totally sure how she would do, but she BLEW ME AWAY!! She was a little ancy while we were in our seats waiting for the show to start, but once it did, she just sat in my lap completely still and completely in AWE of the show. When we went to intermission, she said she wanted more!! She didn't even seem the least bit frightened during the scenes with the Wicked Witch of the West. (which were a little scarier than I was thinking they would be) After the show, the main characters were giving autographs.
Brooklyn, who normally LOVES costume people, was a little stand-off-ish at the first table with Dorothy, Glenda and the WWW. Some parents might have been disappointed, but I was actually ELATED that my normally fearless daughter was a little apprehensive about the SCARY, GREEN, LONG-NOSED WICKED witch!! Such a normal and healthy response for a 2-year-old. Way to go, B!
When we got to the second table, she got a little closer and seemed to like the scarecrow, but by the time we got to the 3rd table, she was SMITTEN with the TINMAN.
And, I can't say for sure, but I think the feelings might have been mutual.
She was all about the munchkins
And she was all about hanging with the big girls (our neighbors, Alexa and Abi). You could tell she thought she was so big and thought it was such a special treat to be spending the afternoon with them.
And then, after all of the excitement (which was during our usual naptime), she crashed on the way home.
