We spent our one and only summer vacation this year at a lake house in Hot Springs with family. It was a little busy and crazy, but FABULOUS!! Our "lazy" (as lazy as a morning can be with 6 tiny childrent)mornings were spent on the patio overlooking the lake.
Adults all with coffee in their hands
And Elmo pants on
(WOW, those are busy! Father's Day gift picked out by Brooklyn)...
Perfect way to start a morning!
The house that we rented had a beautiful view of the lake.
And very interesting wall colors and decor ...
One of the rooms had TONS of taxedermy!
Oddly enough, none of the children seemed to even notice it!
We did lots of reading...
played games,
(Children played Candyland and adults played Balderdash every night.)
did crafts,
spent time in the pool,
and did a little partying!!
First, we had a suprise birthday party for my mom
It did not go quite as smoothly as we had hoped. We had devised a plan for Brady to get mom out of the house after dinner so we could set up for the party and practice yelling, "Surprise!" with the children. Brady was supposed to text us just before they walked in, but he had forgotten his phone! So...he rang the doorbell, which was this weird chime thing that none of us had heard before. We were all talking about what that sound was and trying to figure it out when they appeared. Oooops! Suprise! I think she was still surprised anyway and the kids were all too young to be disappointed.
And I don't know why, but there is just something hilarious to me about adults standing around in party hats!
(btw - check out the maroon/red walls and ceiling!!)
And then we partied some more as we celebrated sweet Chandler's 1st Birthday!
I just LOVE the quality time that everyone got to spend together without work or school or anything else getting in the way!
As with any trip, there were a few things that did not go as we had hoped,
but EVERY ONE of them turned into something special and unique!
1. The boat broke down and stranded us in the middle of the lake,
BUT Eddie said that swimming around with Brooklyn out there was his favorite time of the whole weekend!!
2. The electricity went out one of the nights,
BUT the adults ended up playing a VERY LONG game of Balderdash via headlight!!
3. Due to an unfortunate circumstance, Eddie's Dad was not able to join Eddie, Landry and Brady for golf,
BUT Dad (who never gets to play golf) stepped up and went in his place and that outting ended up being the high point of the whole weekend for him.
What an incredibly fun and memorable weekend!
We did truly miss every one of you that was not able to attend!!
