Summer Vacation 2011

We spent our one and only summer vacation this year at a lake house in Hot Springs with family.  It was a little busy and crazy, but FABULOUS!!  Our "lazy" (as lazy as a morning can be with 6 tiny childrent)mornings were spent on the patio overlooking the lake.
Adults all with coffee in their hands

And Elmo pants on
(WOW, those are busy!  Father's Day gift picked out by Brooklyn)...
Perfect way to start a morning!
The house that we rented had a beautiful view of the lake.

And very interesting wall colors and decor ...
One of the rooms had TONS of taxedermy!
Oddly enough, none of the children seemed to even notice it!
We did lots of reading...
played games,
(Children played Candyland and adults played Balderdash every night.)
did crafts,
spent time in the pool,
and did a little partying!!
First, we had a suprise birthday party for my mom
It did not go quite as smoothly as we had hoped.  We had devised a plan for Brady to get mom out of the house after dinner so we could set up for the party and practice yelling, "Surprise!" with the children.  Brady was supposed to text us just before they walked in, but he had forgotten his phone!  So...he rang the doorbell, which was this weird chime thing that none of us had heard before.  We were all talking about what that sound was and trying to figure it out when they appeared.  Oooops!  Suprise!  I think she was still surprised anyway and the kids were all too young to be disappointed.
And I don't know why, but there is just something hilarious to me about adults standing around in party hats!
(btw - check out the maroon/red walls and ceiling!!)
And then we partied some more as we celebrated sweet Chandler's 1st Birthday!

I just LOVE the quality time that everyone got to spend together without work or school or anything else getting in the way!

As with any trip, there were a few things that did not go as we had hoped,
but EVERY ONE of them turned into something special and unique!

1.  The boat broke down and stranded us in the middle of the lake,
BUT Eddie said that swimming around with Brooklyn out there was his favorite time of the whole weekend!!
2.  The electricity went out one of the nights,
BUT the adults ended up playing a VERY LONG game of Balderdash via headlight!!
3.  Due to an unfortunate circumstance, Eddie's Dad was not able to join Eddie, Landry and Brady for golf,
BUT Dad (who never gets to play golf) stepped up and went in his place and that outting ended up being the high point of the whole weekend for him.

What an incredibly fun and memorable weekend!
We did truly miss every one of you that was not able to attend!!

Chandler's 1st Slumber Party at Mimi and DooDads

While Brooklyn was off at her first football game, Chandler had her very first sleepover (without Mommy or Daddy) at her maternal grandparents...better known as Mimi and DooDad.
It was very hard to leave this sweet little face, but they insisted that it was time I shared her!
Chandler has really developed some personality and is quite a character.
My Dad currently has a leg injury that causes him to walk a little funny and it is more pronounced in the morning when he first wakes up.  This a picture of Chandler walking behind him immitating his limp.  Hilarious!
They met Landry, Ashley and Reese for lunch
It was Labor Day Weekend so my sister's family also happened to be visiting my parents a couple of the nights that Chandler was there.
Looks like she had a blast with them, too!
Landry's family came over one of the days while Nat's family was still there so they made it a party!
When I'm around, Chandler usually only wants me, so I was glad to see that while I was away, she got sweet bonding time with Aunt Ashley,
DooDad
And Uncle Robbie

She, of course, still cheered on her Razorbacks from Texarkana in her new Razorback dress!

Also, while she was there, they took her to church

went on fun walks
and had fun bath time at night before bed!
Is there anything yummier than a fresh and clean baby???

Thanks Mimi and DooDad (and Landry, Ashley, Nat & Rob) for taking such great care of her while we were away!

Brooklyn's Frist Day of Preschool!

I couldn't believe she was actually willing to hold the sign and smile!!  I can get over the fact that she didn't have on her shoes.  =)  From what I was told, she had a perfect first day of school!

Chandler's Baby Dedication

9/11/2011
Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures of this very special occasion, but this is our "life verse" for precious baby Chandler:

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
Proverbs 4:23

Brooklyn's First Football Game!

Eddie and I decided it was finally time to introduce Brooklyn to Razorback Football!
First things first, though...
The Tailgate

Then on to the game where Brooklyn did great!
I'd give her an A- and would be willing to take her to more games if we didn't have to pay for her seat!
The morning after the game, I caught up with my 4 best girlfriends (and roommates for 3 years) from college for brunch.  We brought some of our children and these 4 are all getting ready to be flower girls together in our friend, Andrea's upcoming wedding.
Such a fun and cooperative bunch!
Sad Faces
Surprise Faces!!
Adelyn (far right) clearly wins the award for most expressive faces!
Funny face...

And then, of course, happy faces

What a fabulous bunch of flower girls these sweet friends will be!
